All EMTs / Paramedics,
Just wanted to let each of you know about the new equipment that will be added to the truck shortly. I have spoken with each Captain and each shift will have a brief training conducted by me this week to go over each of these medications and new pieces of equipment. The dates and times are listed below…..
During this training I will give each of you a copy of the new Standing Order for each medication so that you can have the opportunity to review the Standing Orders so that their is no confusing. Please remember that you can access the Standing Orders anytime for free through the Greenville County Website (The link is listed below.). Also for those of you will a smart phone and are interested there is a Greenville County EMS Standing Orders App that is around $2 that you can purchase. This app is updated anytime their is a change to any of the Standing Orders and is a great resource.
The new medications that are being added are Albuterol, CombiVent, Epi 1:1000, GlucaGen, Saline for Nebulizers.
The new Equipment is CAT Tourniquet, Nebulizer, Lancets, and a new Sharps Container.
During this training I will have all of the new equipment out for you to look at and get familiar with… Due to the numerous complaints that we have received with the current sharps containers that we have Sybil ordered a new type I believe that each of you will like… We also switched the Lancets to a new user friendly style and I will show each of you those once they come in.
As many of you are aware we have to do competency training for CPAP each year which is planned for the end of the year… I will have the CPAP out and will check each person off while doing this training as we are going to have to go over how to use the nebulizer with the CPAP anyway… For those new EMTs who have not done the training on CPAP this is an excellent opportunity for you to get checked off on this device.
For those of you who are not an Advanced Level Provider… This is still a very important training for each of you… Knowing how to use this equipment and what each medication is can be of great benefit to you and the person who is providing treatment….
B Battalion Training: Tuesday, May 26, 2015, @ 0900 hours.
C Battalion Training: Wednesday, May 27, 2015, @ 1500 hours.
A Battalion Training: Friday, May 29, 2015, @ 1100 hours.
All EMTs are encouraged to attend one of these trainings… I am aware that this is last minute and many of you may not be able to attend… There will be multiple days next month as well that will be available for people to attend.
As always if you have any questions, comments, or concerns please let me know and I will do my best to help you out…
