The Glassy Mountain Fire Service Area (GMFSA) is a Special Tax District formed by Greenville County Council in 1988 and is overseen by a seven-member Board of Commissioners elected by District residents. The Service Area, which covers 52 square miles of the Upstate, is located in northern Greenville County, an area often known as, “The Dark Corner.”

The department is a “Combination” department made up of approximately 30 full-time and part-time employees and an equal number of volunteer members who serve at five fire stations housing 22 pieces of apparatus which include two Quick Response Vehicles located at our Headquarters and Beaver Dam Stations. The GMFSA is an Insurance Service Office (ISO) Class 3.
