The Glassy Mountain Fire Department is pleased to announce participation in the File of Life program. During a medical emergency there is often a lot of confusion, panic, and urgency. The File of Life puts vital information in the hands of emergency personnel and allows them to immediately begin treatment based upon the patient’s past medical history. The File of Life is a double-sided, three-section form that is stored in a plastic file with a magnet on the rear so the file can be placed on the front or side of a refrigerator in the home. The kit also comes with a sticker that can be placed on the front door or other conspicuous area alerting emergency crews that the file is in the home and somewhere on the refrigerator in the kitchen. The form should be reviewed and updated as needed every 6 months.
